Dynamic HTML...

Scripting, DHTML and dynamic content is everywhere. Image rollovers, highlighting (style changes), drop-down menus, and form validation are all examples of where JavaScript and DHTML might be used.

DHTML (or Dynamic HTML) is an extension of HTML giving greater control over the layout of page elements and the ability to have web pages which change and interact with the user without having to communicate with the server.

DHTML was created by Microsoft and can be viewed in Internet Explorer 4.0 and Netscape Communicator 4.0 but, as usual, Microsoft and Netscape disagree on how DHTML should be implemented. The Document Object Model Group of the World Wide Web Consortium is continually developing standards for DHTML.
